About TMI

Welcome.

My name is Paul Barbé.  Having spent a large part of my life in both general and marine engineering I set up TMI (Technical Motor Industries) some 10 years ago, originally offering general precision and maintenance engineering services.  In 2000, after investing in additional equipment and employing staff, we offered engine reconditioning and repair services to the local motor trade, together with on-site broken bolt removal, helicoiling, etc., etc., this being only a small selection of our services. In August 2002 we moved to larger premises to accommodate our expansion.

As demand changed - compounded by the high quality imports of reconditioned engines and cylinder heads, and a booming economy - so did we, repairing or re-conditioning only the very obscure, old, or high-performance engines, but leaning more towards general precision and maintenance engineering. So having disposed of surplus equipment, we down-sized to suit the market we catered for.

Due to popular demand, re-structuring and a recession we are now offering high quality engine reconditioning, repair and maintenance services to the marine, motor trade, public and industry, and during June, July and August 2009 have re-invested heavily in additional equipment.

With the successful purchase of all fixtures and fittings of what was Terry Hird Engines this together with the phone number new premises in Leighton Buzzard we are now able to offer more to our customers than ever before.

October 2016, We are reducing our engine reconditioning side of the business to concentrate on precision engineering, a difficult decision to make, as we were extremely busy in both aspects of the business and there's simply not enough hours in the day to do everything !
